Nontraditional Hobo Pies

Spread the love

The following is a guide for making a hobo pie, adapted from cookingcomically.com. All you need is a small fire, some tin foil, flame-resistant/grilling tongs and some of the ingredients included below, and you’re on your way to the perfect meal.

Protein:
Hamburger meat
Ground turkey
Veggie burger
Diced potatoes
Sausage
Bacon
Tofu

Veggies:
Onions
Celery
Peppers
Jalapeños
Tomatoes
Carrots
Garlic
Squash
Cabbage
Mushrooms

Condiments:
Barbeque sauce
Marinara sauce
Ranch (or other salad dressings)
Ketchup
Mustard (regular, chipotle, honey-mustard, dijon)
Hot sauce
Taco seasoning

Step 1: Invite as many friends over as you want, and tell each one to bring a couple of ingredients. You can leave these up to their discretion or give them parameters, depending on how adventurous you’d like your dinner to get. Perhaps plan an Italian pie, with sausage and marinara, or a Mexican pie, with taco meat and lots of jalapeños. You can’t go wrong!

Step 2: Start a small fire in a designated pit (not on a couch, you Spartans!), making sure you know your local laws and landlord’s rules regarding flames. Assign someone to keep watch on the fire at all times.
