MSU’s fight song sounds throughout campus, the leaves have changed colors and there is a distinct scent of pumpkin spice in the air. East Lansing is back to life, welcoming home new and returning students, and fall has officially scored its season pass.
Out of all the seasons, fall is undeniably spirited; from football cheers to Halloween fears, the signature festivities we partake in during autumn’s brisk days have become beloved traditions that generate a true feeling of undivided excitement among Spartans, both past and present.
While the start of a new school year was never so anticipated until joining the Michigan State family, going back to class after a glorious summer vacation can be a challenge. Stuck in the lustful reminiscent state of “Making Memories Abroad”? Don’t panic! Simply grab yourself a savory double grande pumpkin spice latte and kick back with this issue of ing magazine; it’s full of fall favorites that will certainly get your spirit showing.
Feast on meals you can make on a college budget or sip on some of October’s best brews. Though if you prefer the latter, be sure to review your “Drinking Rights and Responsibilities.”
Perhaps you’ve planned a mission this fall to finally put a face to the mascot mystery of the “Anonymous Sparty.” But everyone knows that Sparty is a force to be reckoned with, so that conundrum may remain unsolved. However, there is really no question regarding the “History of the MSU/U of M rivalry”- Paul Bunyan’s East Lansing residence is a definite symbol of who the real victors are.
Finally, in the true spirit of fall, wrap up October in great “Halloweek” fashion. If you enjoy a super spooky podcast or maybe prefer a more interactive haunted experience, you won’t even have to venture off campus to fulfill those chilling cravings. On the other hand, an off-campus trip to the nearest Halloween store might be necessary in order to complete your costume. But before you go, be aware that a cat costume is probably not such a good idea, and that Halloween is the best time to show off your creative side.
