Good Truckin’ Diner is a quaint, eclectic space that serves some of the best food in Lansing. The diner is located in REO Town, a neighborhood south of downtown Lansing on Washington Ave. REO Town is home not only to this unique diner, but to a theatre where local musicians play, independent record shops, the beloved Blue Owl Coffee Co. and much more.
Good Truckin’s rustic exterior intrigues passersby to step on in and check the place out. The diner is gaining popularity, so be mindful of the time and day you decide to check out this hidden gem.
Inside, the walls are covered in local art (some of which you can purchase), old license plates and other artwork, including tattoo sketches from a local tattoo artist. There is very limited seating (only six tables and about six stools at the bar), so reserve a bit of time for your trip to Good Truckin’ — trust me, it’s worth the wait. The whole kitchen is in plain view so you can be sure to clear your table before your food makes its way over.
Good Truckin’ has one menu for the whole day, so if you want breakfast at 2 p.m. or tacos at 8 a.m., you can do that. They are known for their ever-changing specials board that highlights unique donuts, shakes, waffles and tacos. If you don’t know what to get — there is a lot to choose from — try a special or ask your waiter what they suggest. We recommend ordering a basket of loaded tots (there are about six to choose from) and splitting it with your table to get you started. You won’t regret it.
Good Truckin’ Diner is located at 1107 S Washington Ave, Lansing, MI 48910 and is open 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. every day.
