Imagine a relaxing night, candles burning with your favorite snack and a whole new season of your favorite show on Netflix (New Girl of course). You get everything set, you get yourself all comfortable, then…BOOM. There goes the sound of what seems like a thousand firecrackers. Yay, Happy Fourth of July to everyone. If you hate fireworks as much as I do, enjoy this list of things you can do other than participate in this holiday’s infamous festivities..
#1 Read a book
As crazy as it sounds, reading is fundamental. This can be broken down into simple terms: Reading is fun, mentally. Take the time out to read one of our recommended books in the summer!
Who doesn’t love to eat? Seriously. Pick something that you have always wanted to cook and learn how to cook it. This will not only satisfy you for the moment, but it could also turn into the dish you can bring to your significant other’s family event.
#3 Shop Online
It’s the summer! Some of us do not have classes and even if we do, we can work more, which means we can also spend more. It’s always nice to order things and forget about them until you get a package in the mail. Treat yourself!
#4 Watch Netflix
With all of the stress and work that school brings, it is impossible at times to watch every Netflix series that interests you, and this is your time to do it! Snuggle up with your favorite snack and turn your volume all the way up to mask the sounds of the fireworks.
#5 Make some tea
Fireworks bring an unwelcome feeling of stress and frustration, so making tea will be the perfect thing to calm you down. Take some quiet time to gather your thoughts.
Although this list is short, it surely doesn’t include all of the things that are better than being outside with the crazy sounds and even crazier people on the Fourth of July. Do not feel bad for not being like everyone else, instead stay in and take care of yourself. Luckily for you, most people in the U.S. are going to be out at bars and parties, so at least you won’t have to come up with an excuse about why you would rather stay in today!
